Definition of cure for Hodgkin's disease.

چکیده
with Stage I and II disease there is excessive mortality per unit time as compared to the control population for at least 10 years after treatment. Thus, while the above definition is acceptable, the lag period required for the evaluation of potentially curative treatment is very long. In an attempt to determine the presence and degree of curative treatment in a shorter time, the relapse-free interval following treatment has been studied. For patients with Stage I and II disease, at least 80% of those destined to relapse do so within 4 years and in excess of 90% do so within 10 years. These are average data from a number of studies including those where case accrual started in 1932 to those where case accrual started as late as 1957. For those studies where the major case accrual occurred prior to lymphangiography staging, late relapses (between 4 and 10 years) are somewhat more common than in later series. This is probably because the retroperitoneal area is relatively "silent" and it may take several years for such relapses to

متن کاملEvaluation of prognostic factors affecting long and short term survival rates of Hodgkin's lymphoma patients using the cure fraction models
Background and Aim: This study aimed to analyze the factors affecting time and experience of relapse in the patients with Hodgkin's lymphoma, using cure fraction. Material and Methods: This retrospective study included all the patients diagnosed as Hodgkin's lymphoma in the Center for oncology and hematology in Shafa Hospital in Ahwaz City from 2002 to 2012. We used survival analysis and cure f...

Juan A. del Regato, 1909-1999, was a superb clinician-educator who recognized the radiocurability of Hodgkin's disease but questioned treatment without late effects, particularly in children. The remarkable progress in pediatric Hodgkin's disease today is a tribute to this influential pioneer, who served as a role model to many. Combined modality therapy using low-dose, involved-field radiation...
متن کاملCure of disseminated xenografted human Hodgkin's tumors by bispecific monoclonal antibodies and human T cells: the role of human T-cell subsets in a preclinical model.
Cure of a single established human Hodgkin's tumor growing subcutaneously in severe combined immunodeficient (SCID) mice can be achieved with a complex protocol using two bispecific monoclonal antibodies (Bi-MoAb) directed against the Hodgkin's associated CD30 antigen and the T-cell triggering molecules CD3 and CD28, respectively, together with human T cells prestimulated in vitro with Bi-MoAbs...
متن کاملCurrent clinical trials in Hodgkin's disease.
With the advent of modern polychemotherapy and radiation techniques, cure rates in Hodgkin's disease (HD) have improved substantially. This article summarises current concepts of treatment for early, intermediate and advanced stage HD. Current strategies focus on the balance between cure rate and toxicity. In early stages, cure rates approach 90% and new strategies mainly try to avoid toxicitie...
متن کاملAUTOLOGOUS MARROW TRANSPLANTATION IN THE TREATMENT OF MOPP AND ABVD-RESI STANT HODGKIN\'S DISEASE
Six patients with disseminated Hodgkin's disease resistant to MOPP (mechlorethamine, vincristine, procarbazine and prednisolone), and ABVD (adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine and dacarbazine) chemotherapy were treated with high-dose chemotherapy and autologous marrow transplantation. The patients first underwent marrow aspiration and storage for subsequent autologous bone marrow transplant...
